RAMA responds to Canadian government’s consultation on housing for temporary migrant farm workers
The Canadian government launched a consultation to improve the housing conditions of temporary foreign workers in this country. However, their consultation process did not include an effort to reach out to the migrant workers themselves. RAMA believes that migrant workers ought to have a voice about the standards for their own housing conditions and that their voice should guide this process.
Thus, RAMA Okanagan partnered with other organizations in the country to submit a comprehensive report outlining what 453 migrant workers shared with us about the topic. See the report by clicking here.
Additionally, RAMA Isla submitted a report with recommendations based on research and RAMA Isla’s outreach with migrant workers on southern Vancouver Island, including feedback received from migrant workers specifically for the purpose of this consultation. Click here to read it.
